Driver Responsibilities

Driver obligations for pre-planned rides, lawful transport, vehicle safety and cost sharing.

Last updated: 29 October 2026
Drivers remain responsible for lawful driving, accurate trip information, vehicle safety and compliance with applicable motor-vehicle, insurance and transport rules.

1. Eligibility and legal authority

Hold an appropriate valid driving licence. The intended journey and use of the vehicle must comply with applicable motor vehicle, permit, tax and transport laws. Being listed on Wagad Connect does not grant regulatory permission.

2. Documents and vehicle condition

Maintain legally required registration, insurance, PUC and any applicable fitness or permit documentation. Make sure the vehicle is roadworthy with functioning brakes, tyres, lights and necessary safety equipment.

3. True ride information

Post only journeys you genuinely plan to take. Provide accurate route, date, departure/arrival estimates, seat availability and vehicle information. Update or cancel a ride promptly when circumstances change.

4. Seats and passenger requests

Do not exceed lawful capacity. Review requests responsibly, approve only where safe and possible, and avoid leaving confirmed passengers uninformed about important changes.

5. Start and completion

Mark a trip as started only when the journey is actually beginning. Follow the app's ride-completion and passenger-arrival process and do not falsely mark a trip completed.

6. Free platform and shared costs

Wagad Connect charges no fee or commission to the driver. A driver may propose a transparent contribution toward travel costs only where permitted by law. Any amount is between participants and is not paid to or processed by Wagad Connect. Do not demand undisclosed charges, and do not treat the app as permission to undertake unauthorised commercial transport.

7. Driving conduct

Obey speed limits and road rules. Never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs or while dangerously tired. Avoid risky overtaking, distracted driving and mobile-phone use while operating the vehicle.

8. Respect and privacy

Harassment, threatening conduct, discrimination, sexual misconduct or misuse of passenger contact information is prohibited. Use shared contact details only for legitimate journey coordination.

9. Incidents and emergencies

Comply with applicable duties after an accident or breakdown. Prioritise emergency assistance and contact 112 in India where needed. Keep passengers informed when it is safe to do so.

10. Account and ride restrictions

Wagad Connect may limit ride-posting access or review reported incidents, expired documents, suspected misuse or safety concerns in accordance with its terms and applicable law.
